The Traditional Music Foundation, Inc. was incorporated in 2007 to support traditional music and education. The nonprofit corporation provides opportunities for the general public to explore and experience a range of traditional American music, as well as contemporary musical styles with strong traditional roots. The Traditional Music Foundation is interested in traditional American genres such as old-time music, and contemporary extensions of traditional music, such as bluegrass. These musical styles share common roots and are passed to subsequent generations through aural tradition. For the general public, the TMF hosts, produces, and supports live performance of this music in the form of concerts, festivals, and workshops. In order to advance educational opportunity, the corporation provides music scholarships to individual students and grants for bluegrass and traditional acoustic music education, skill development, or grassroots performance and enrichment. |
